The Hioki IR5050 is a portable high voltage insulation tester designed for insulation measurements on cables, motors, transformers and other high-voltage equipment. It provides five test voltage ranges from 250 V to 5 kV and measures insulation resistance up to 10 TΩ.
The compact and lightweight design is optimized for field use in high-voltage installations. The included hard case provides IP65 protection against dust and water, making the instrument suitable for demanding environments. After measurement, the automatic discharge function safely dissipates residual voltage in the test object. Shielded test leads and guarding reduce noise and ensure stable measurement results.
For advanced insulation diagnostics, the IR5050 includes functions such as Polarization Index (PI), Dielectric Absorption Ratio (DAR) and Dielectric Discharge (DD). These functions support evaluation of insulation aging, moisture ingress and contamination over time.
The instrument also supports tests with varying voltage levels. In Step Voltage testing, the test voltage increases in defined steps to identify weak points in the insulation. In Ramp testing, the voltage increases continuously, allowing observation of insulation behavior across a voltage range and detection of irregularities.
Measurement data can be stored internally and retrieved later for documentation and analysis. With the optional Z3210 adapter, data can be transferred via Bluetooth to mobile devices and used with the GENNECT Cross app. For PC-based documentation, the optional DT4900-01 communication package provides an optically isolated interface and allows configuration of instrument settings.
The IR5050 is designed and manufactured in Japan at HIOKI’s own production facilities.
