- Product Description
The Hioki IR4056 is a battery-powered insulation tester designed for installation, service and maintenance of electrical systems. It provides five test voltages from 50 V to 1000 V and measures insulation resistance up to 4000 MΩ. The instrument is used for testing electrical installations, motors, machinery and control systems.
The integrated PASS/FAIL comparator evaluates the measurement result in approximately 0.8 seconds and provides both visual and audible indication. In case of a FAIL result, the display backlight turns red. Threshold values can be easily set and are stored individually for each test range.
Protective conductor (PE) testing is performed with a 200 mA test current in accordance with EN 61557-4, enabling detection of poor connections, oxidized contacts and increased resistance. The instrument also includes AC and DC voltage measurement up to 600 V, allowing verification that the test object is not live before starting an insulation test.
The IR4056 is rated CAT III 600 V and has been drop tested to 1 m. The integrated hard case forms part of the instrument and provides space for test leads and accessories, which can remain connected during transport. The high-contrast display with backlight ensures clear readability under varying lighting conditions. An optional test lead with integrated remote trigger and LED illumination is available for improved usability in field applications.
