  • Product Description

The Hioki PW8001 is a modular power analyzer designed for high-precision measurements in advanced power electronics applications. It is developed for accurate evaluation of efficiency and losses in modern electrical systems with demanding performance requirements.

The system provides up to eight slots for power input units, allowing flexible configuration depending on the application. Two types of input units can be combined within a single instrument, enabling optimization of accuracy and voltage range for different measurement tasks.

The high-performance U7005 input unit delivers ±0.03% basic accuracy, 15 MHz sampling rate and 18-bit resolution, making it suitable for high-frequency loss measurements in SiC and GaN-based systems. For high-voltage applications, the U7001 input unit supports up to 1500 VDC input and is suited for industrial motor drives and power converter testing where lower bandwidth is sufficient.

High noise immunity (110 dB at 100 kHz) ensures stable and reliable measurement results even in environments with fast switching and high-frequency interference. Combined with Hioki’s current sensors, the system enables accurate measurements from small electronic loads to large-scale power systems.

A key feature is the automatic phase shift correction between voltage and current, ensuring accurate power measurement even at high frequencies and low power factors.

The PW8001 also features Power Spectrum Analysis, enabling power measurement across a wide frequency spectrum beyond the limitations of traditional FFT-based harmonic analysis. This provides improved insight into high-frequency losses and system behavior.

Advanced functions such as wideband harmonic analysis and motor analysis support precise evaluation of electrical drivetrains, motors and high-efficiency power systems. The fast 1 ms update rate allows detailed analysis of rapid power fluctuations, such as those occurring during battery charging and discharging in electric vehicles.

Two PW8001 units can be synchronized via optical link to expand the system up to 16 channels, enabling simultaneous and time-synchronized measurements across complex multi-channel systems.
